Criticism is welcome. Fabricated accusations are not.
Normally, we prefer to spend our time developing DBO Galaxy rather than responding
to conversations taking place in other Dragon Ball Online communities.
However, over the past few years, and once again recently, we have seen increasingly
serious claims being presented to players as facts.
These include claims that DBO Galaxy contains malware or keyloggers,
steals account credentials, attempts to hack players’ computers, secretly installs
unrelated software, steals content from other projects, provides or licenses cheating
software, protects players who cheat, or exists only to make money while putting no
effort into development.
But if you are going to accuse us of hacking people, stealing credentials or
distributing malware, bring evidence.
Serious accusations require serious evidence
DBO Galaxy does not contain a keylogger. We do not steal players’ passwords.
We do not attempt to access players’ computers. We do not steal account information
from other Dragon Ball Online servers, and we do not secretly install unrelated
applications such as Opera GX.
We also do not provide, sell or license cheating software to players, nor do we give
certain players permission to cheat because they donated, know a staff member,
or have some kind of privileged relationship with the team.
If anyone has real technical evidence supporting claims like these malware analysis,
executable analysis, network captures, logs or anything independently reproducible
they are free to publish it.
A Discord message saying that someone heard Galaxy steals accounts is not evidence.
Repeating the same rumor multiple times does not turn it into evidence either.
About account security
Some of these accusations appear to come from situations where players reuse the same
username and password across multiple private servers and later discover that one of
their accounts has been accessed.
Our recommendation has always been simple:
do not reuse the same password across different private servers, websites or services.
If the same credentials are shared across several independent services, nobody can
determine where those credentials were originally exposed simply by making assumptions
in a Discord conversation, extra detail fewm onths ago we added a secondary pin system for extra account protection, where users can set up a numeric pin to protect their account even more.
Criticism is completely fine
Nobody is required or forced to like us.
You can disagree with our balancing. You can dislike our monetization.
You can dislike an update, our development priorities, our art direction,
or even the entire project.
You can believe another Dragon Ball Online server is better and choose to play there.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
What we object to is criticism being replaced by fabricated claims about made up things! like malware,
hacking, credential theft, lack of passion/lazzyness or intentional corruption.
“Galaxy does nothing” / “The developers are lazy”
Players can judge the amount of work being done by looking at what we actually release.
Over the years, development has included major work across the client, server,
networking, security, UI, game systems, development tools and infrastructure.
This includes our transition to a 64-bit client, native Linux server infrastructure,
extensive modernization of the original codebase, GalaxyStudio and our internal
development pipeline, alongside continuing work on new content and additional platforms supports.
People are free to dislike those changes or believe our priorities should be different.
But claiming that no work is being done simply because we dont add what they want us to do, we dont add their suggestion or transformaitons or systems or simply because someone does not personally
like the work being released is a different argument entirely.
About monetization
Galaxy has monetization like any other project. We have never attempted to hide that.
Running infrastructure, servers and continued development has costs, especially when you want to go big and grow/provide better for your players.
It is completely legitimate for players to criticize prices, systems or individual
monetization decisions.
What is not legitimate is turning that criticism into claims that our developers
deliberately refuse to improve the game and exist exclusively to extract money
from players.
This already happened in 2024
What makes the current situation particularly disappointing is that we already
addressed very similar accusations in 2024.
At that time, incorrect statements concerning Galaxy had circulated inside the
DBOGlobal community. DBOGlobal later published a public thread addressing the situation
and apologizing for those incorrect statements.
The original public statement can still be viewed on the DBOGlobal forum:
We appreciated that response at the time and believed the matter had been clarified.
Unfortunately, similar stories continue to be repeated by individual community
members today, including some of the exact same claims involving account theft,
keyloggers and hacking.
Examples of the claims that have been circulating
Below are examples shared to us by innocent users from discussions in other DBO communities.
We are publishing them to show the type of misinformation we are responding to,
not to start a conflict with another project.
Important: these screenshots represent statements made by individual users in different projects like DBOGlobal, UltimateDBO,DBOKAI etc.
Their presence inside another community should not automatically be interpreted
as endorsement by that server’s owners, developers or administrators.
We are not interested in a private-server war
DBO Galaxy has deliberately maintained rules against using our own community
to attack other Dragon Ball Online projects.
We do not want our Discord to become a place where people spend their time
insulting whichever competing server they dislike.
Different projects have different visions and different communities.
Competition does not need to mean hostility.
Whether another project is bigger or smaller than Galaxy, we would rather
respond by developing our own project than by trying to convince players
that another server is dangerous simply because it is competition.
We cannot know the motivation behind every person spreading these claims.
Sometimes it may be rivalry, assumptions, old rumors being repeated,
frustration with another project, or simply misinformation being passed
from one person to another.
What matters is that serious accusations should not be presented as facts
without evidence.
If you find a legitimate security problem, report it and we will investigate it,here we fix errors/bugs as fast possible aslong we know how to replicate/trigger them thats all we need to fix any issue in the game.
If you have technical evidence of wrongdoing, publish it.
If you dislike Galaxy, criticize Galaxy.
But please do not turn rumors and speculation into claims of malware,
hacking, account theft, stealing other projects, lazyness and other things.
Judge us by what we actually do
We are not asking anyone to blindly trust every announcement or agree with
every decision we make.
Judge Galaxy by its updates, its development, its mistakes, its improvements
and what we actually deliver to players.
We will continue working on the project, and we will continue accepting
legitimate criticism.
But when serious fabricated accusations begin being presented as facts,
especially accusations involving malware, hacking and stolen accounts,
we also have the right to publicly defend our project.
We addressed this once in 2024.
Hopefully, we will not need to address it again.
